I don't really know why (especially since it sounds like parts of Kingdom Melodies), but I still love this one.

Christ Alone
I never found and will not find religion...but I did find a deep relationship.
My favorite...and hence my screen name:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnWw24s5gG8
In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all-in-all
Here in the love of Christ I stand
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand -

What should replace religion ?
by Finkelstein inhere is an interesting speech by daniel dennett.
i thought it was a balanced and honest talk,.
bringing out both sides of this purposed plausible suggestion.

What should replace religion? Something very few JWs understand. A true faith in Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus is not religion. Belief in God is not religion. Very few that have left JWs even have experience in what a real realtionship with Jesus is like, though many will not admit it.

Regarding the previous recommendation of Bert Ehrman, here is a response. Ehrman has been debunked in more ways than one. His arguments seem persuasive (and have persuaded some who don't care to look at both sides) until you get down to the actualevidence. This is a long video, answering Ehrmans claims. Shorter videos debunking Ehrman can be found. But this is a pretty thorough one.

and here is both sides together:

Check out why some atheists switched their view and believe the Bible as well. Look also at why some atheists have decided to believe in God. Look at both sides, not just those with an subjective agenda of "disproving" the Bible.
Here are some good ones:
The Case for Christ - Lee Strobel
There is a God: How the Worlds most notorious atheist changed his mind - Antony Flew
The Language of God - Francis Collins
Is the Bible True...Really?: A Dialogue on Skepticism, Evidence, and Truth - Josh McDowell and Dave Sterrett
The Fourth Day: Why the Bible is Hisotrically Accurate - Darren Thompson

"You don't get a second chance to make a first impression" AAWA
by yesidid inthe first impression one has of any group or organization is its name.
that is my problem with "the name'.
active, or even questioning witnesses will undoubtedly be alarmed by the connotation of name.

Just wanted to let you know that the reason I am pushing the point is because I think the concept is great
No...I don't think you understand the concept. As far as I've seen the MAIN goal is to tackle the WT itself, not individual JWs. There are plenty of individual groups that can help individual JWs. This group is a force to change policy at the top. Not necessarily attract individual JWs. So no, I don't think you understand the concept from the get go.
The name is appropriate, because it states the purpose. It is "Anti Watchtower Activists" not "Anti Jehovah's Witness Activists".

AAWA - Every generation needs a new revolution - Thomas Jefferson

revolution is anarchy.

Yes you are, CantLeave! And while I may have a different belief...you are one of my favorite ones!
I really don't mean to introduce negativity into this. Just motivation. And if I've failed, it is all me. But I am so proud of everyone for banding together. You have no idea what high hopes I have for AAWA! I still hold that it could be a greater contribution than has ever been given to the exJW work. Even bigger than Ray!!!
So proud to be alive and present through this important work! '
I'm a little bumbed that I can't edit my original post now... but I did not mean to be harsh towards AAWA. I love it already. Just wanting to be an annoying voice that keeps it on its toes.
I do need to clarify. I did not mean that AAWA is not nor will ever be a Revolution. I meant that a business model is not a revolution. Art is behind every revolution. Good or bad. Passion. Refusal to back down. I really did not mean to say that AAWA is faulty necessarily. I'm just trying to put a thorn into the model so that anarchy....punk rock anarchy....is not forgotten.
The goal is to bring down a giant. Rationality is needed. But rationality without passion is impotent.
I see so much potential here. ANd that is why I'm writing about it. I want Cedars and his crew to suceed. And I can only hope to be a tiny part of it. It will be a legacy that will never be forgotten...IF....
it is done right.
